How to beat Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a condition that affects the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs across the bottom of the foot from the heel to the toes. The plantar fascia helps support the arch of the foot and absorbs shock during walking and running.

If you have plantar fasciitis you may have pain and tenderness in the heel or arch of the foot, especially when first standing up after a period of rest and/ or in the mornings. Plantar fasciitis is a common condition that can be caused by a variety of factors, including overuse, improper shoe fit, tight calf muscles, obesity, and certain types of physical activities that place a lot of stress on the feet, such as running or jumping.

Treatment typically involves rest, stretching exercises, osteopathy or manual therapy, footwear modifications, anti-inflammatory medication and shockwave therapy.
